So, 'fishes' can apparently be used to describe a variety of species of fish [pl]. So here are some fishes. And some crustaceans. Crustacii?

  • Illustrated London Map Invite
I was asked to illustrate the wedding invites of a couple who had met at a newsprinters. The couple were to be married in the Docklands, and intended to take their guests on a cruise west up the Thames on their wedding day. The invite, which is printed on a tabloid-size newspaper, maps London from West to East, ending at London City Airport on the last page, where the couple would jet off on their honeymoon.

  • Curious Hands
The beginning of 2015 saw my illustrating a series of poems by Sarah Perry, who in 2014 spent a month in Soho as part of Cityread London, organised by writer development organisation Spread the Word. 24 poems see through each hour of the day in various locations in Soho, from Oxford Street to Brewer Street, from Soho Parish School to Golden Square. I produced a monochrome image for each poem, picking up on the content and themes of each one, and also produced the colour front & back cover. The front illustration plays on the idea of a map in the lines on the palm of your hand.

  • White Stuff Autumn 2014
I was lucky enough to be asked this summer to prepare an illustrated alphabet for White Stuff, as part of their Autumn campaign 'How Do You Do?' - looking at everything British. The alphabet specifically picks up on place names where they have a store location beginning with that letter. British places, landmarks, food, traditions and people - each letter contains a little piece of the UK.

  • Map of Havana
An events company recently asked me to produce an illustrated map of Havana - certain landmarks had to be included, as well as markers for the various locations that were part of the event. I wanted to go for a more contemporary take on a vintage travel poster, having the map as a postcard with a Cuban beach and sunset as a backdrop.

  • Lillingstons Christmas E-card
Events company Lillingstons approached me early in December to produce a Christmas image for their Christmas mail-out. Their location, a mews courtyard was to be the image subject, but made festive; decked with fairy lights and with a wreath on the door, and a cosy glow from the windows and lights.

  • Your Ad Here: Barnes & Webb
As part of the Your Ad Here project, my design was picked, amongst others, to be displayed on a billboard in the Olympic Park. I chose to create an advert for Barnes & Webb, a local beehive hire company based in East London. More photos of the design in situ to follow...

  • D&AD: Purdey's
This year was my last chance to enter the D&AD New Blood awards, as a graduate. I chose to redesign the packaging for Purdey's, a fairly niche beverage company. I chose to illustrate scenes of people going about their daily lives, to emphasise the point that healthiness and energy is a daily thing, not a fad that can be dropped whenever.

  • The Garden Museum / Bundy & Webster
This year I have teamed up with contemporary fashion company Bundy & Webster to produce a series of designs for their SS14 collection. The first t-shirt was also produced for a collaboration between the Garden Museum in London and ourselves. The design is available on t-shirts, tea towels and tote bags in the Garden Museum gift shop.

All the designs were screen printed and they have turned out brilliantly.

See www.bundyandwebster.com for their excellent new collection.

  • The Serco Prize for Illustration 2014 – London Stories
Earlier in the year I entered the Serco Prize for Illustration 2014 competition. The brief was to create a poster telling one of London's 'stories' - I chose a poem called Composed Upon Westminster Bridge September 3rd 1802 by William Wordsworth, and transposed him standing on the new Westminster Bridge looking at London as it is today, and wondering whether the early morning he describes can be said for the hustle and bustle of today's city.
While I didn't progress very far with this competition, it was great fun to do - I suggest you check out fifty of the best entries on show in the London Transport Museum, on until the 6th April 2014.

  • Relais & Chateaux Diner Des Grandes Chefs
Every year, French company Relais & Chateaux hosts a grand dinner celebrating cuisine in a chosen country, attended by many highly regarded chefs and guests. This year, the event was hosted in Old Billingsgate, London, and focussed on the concept of local British produce and travel. I was chosen to illustrate a booklet given to the guests, explaining the aims of the company and the background of the produce chosen to be cooked and served at the dinner.
